On the heals of our Christmas Exams.. I knew I would need a little philosophical inspiration, so I pulled up our favorite teacher hoping his advice was being felt at home and at school..
And the first grade that came in was a 92 in a class my son described as easy and fun. Well he was happy with the 92 but of coarse his mother and I knew he could do better and has. On the way to school during our chat of "do the best you can, not just enough to do good", I reminded him the state that he lives in is not on the top of the educational ladder, in fact I told him we were almost last something that was true the last time I heard, albeit a long time ago.
So after my warning of keeping his standards high and not just coasting to the low "A", I went back and did some updated research where our state of Georgia places in education, and I was pleasantly surprised. We were now in the 35th place! That is a huge improvement to were it once was when I went to school and even later when we heard the score on the news not the internet!
After looking at the rest of the results there did not seem to be much change at top from what I remembered. The northeastern states of New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut area was on the top of the list, and a lot of the southeastern states were low, "but improving!"
So here is the list of all the states from all states, I do not know if it will make my sons life any easier when he comes home but at least I can feel better about our state!
Overall State Total Quality 1 Massachusetts 73.65 1 2 New Jersey 69.13 3 3 Connecticut 65.47 2
